• Develop and implement long term planning strategies that align with overall business goals, focusing on improving operational efficiency, production capacity and material availability.• Align production plans with demand forecasts and ensure that production plans are flexible enough to meet fluctuating demand without creating excess inventory or overloading production resources.• Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions in demand, supply chain or production capacity including risk management strategies.• Oversee production planning to ensure that production schedules are aligned with customer demand, sales forecasts, and available production capacity. Manage any adjustments required due to change in demand, material availability or production constraints.• Conduct in-depth analysis of production capacity and resource utilization to identify and mitigate capacity constraints to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.• Manage and oversee the Material Resource Planning (MRP) process to ensure the timely availability of materials to meet production schedules.• Work with procurement team to ensure materials are sourced on time and within budget, negotiating lead times and addressing supplier performance issues.• Develop strategies to minimize inventory holding costs while ensuring material availability. Implement inventory control techniques, such as safety stock calculations and just-in-time (JIT) methodologies.• Act as key liaison between planning, procurement, production, sales and logistics team to ensure smooth execution of production plans and material flow.• Oversee inventory levels across the supply chain, ensuring optimal levels of materials, work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods to avoid shortages or excess.• Lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve process efficiency and enhance the overall material and production planning process.• Explore and implement digital tools and automation technologies to streamline planning activities, improve data accuracy and enable more agile responses to changing demand.• Ensure planning methodologies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are established, maintained and improved for consistency across the organization.• Analyze KPIs and performance data to drive decision-making, ensuring continuous improvements in planning, production, and inventory processes.• Develop risk management strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions, production delays, or demand fluctuations.• Manage and develop a team of planners, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.• Provide coaching, training and development opportunities to ensure that planning team members are equipped with the latest tools and best practices.
