Step-by-Step Guide to Submitting Form E (Via MyTax Portal)
For Malaysian employers, whether you run a company, partnership, sole proprietorship, or small business, Form E is a mandatory yearly tax declaration that must be submitted to the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDN / Inland Revenue Board). This annual return verifies employment data, including employee income, total payroll remuneration, and related deductions.
Filing Form E accurately and on time is critical to ensure your business remains tax compliant and avoids fines or legal penalties.
Note: Form E submission involves two mandatory stages, which are CP8D submission followed by Form E filing. Employers must complete CP8D first before proceeding with Form E.
Overview of the Form E Submission Process
Step 1: Prepare employee payroll and remuneration data
Step 2: Submit CP8D (employee-level income details)
Step 3: Submit Form E (employer-level declaration)
Step 4: Download and retain submission acknowledgements
Step-by-Step Submission Guide
Part 1: Submit C.P.8D (Statement of Remuneration)
CP8D contains detailed employee income and deduction data, including:
-
Salary and wages
-
Bonuses and allowances
-
EPF, SOCSO, EIS contributions
-
Monthly Tax Deduction (PCB)
Step-by-Step CP8D Submission via MyTax

Once logged in, under the Role Selection dropdown menu, select Employer (Majikan) and choose your company's name.

-
-
Review all information and click Confirm & Submit.
-
Print or download the acknowledgment receipt.
Part 2: Submit Form E
After successfully submitting the C.P.8D, you can proceed to the Form E submission.

Select e-Form and then choose the appropriate Form e-E for the correct Year of Assessment.

Enter your company's Income Tax Number and click Continue (Teruskan).
-
On the Form E page, review and fill in the required company details, including:
-
Employer category and status (e.g., "Company," "in operation").
-
The total number of employees at the year-end.
-
Number of new employees and those who left during the year.
-
-
Make the final declaration and click Sign & Send.
-
Enter your ID number and MyTax password to electronically sign the form.
-
Print or download both the acknowledgment of submission and the submitted e-E form for your records.
Form E Submission Period (Malaysia)
-
CP8D & Form E Submission Period: 1 March - 31 March 2026 (Usually may be granted a grace period until 30 April)
Employers are strongly encouraged to complete the submissions early to avoid system congestion and errors.
Penalties for Late or Non-Submission
Under the Income Tax Act 1967, failure to submit Form E or CP8D may result in:
-
A fine of RM200 to RM20,000, or
-
Imprisonment for up to six months, or
-
Both
Late submission may also trigger compliance reviews or audits by LHDN.
Submitting Form E correctly is a key employer responsibility in Malaysia. By understanding that Form E filing requires both CP8D submission and Form E declaration, and by following the step-by-step MyTax process outlined above, employers can meet statutory requirements confidently and efficiently.
Early preparation, accurate payroll data, and timely submission are essential to staying compliant with LHDN regulations in 2026 and beyond.
