1. Leadership & Strategy• Lead, manage, and mentor the R&D team to achieve department goals and foster a culture of innovation.• Develop and execute R&D strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and technology roadmap.• Monitor industry trends and competitor technologies to identify new opportunities for product development.2. Product & Process Development• Oversee design, development, and validation of new products, materials, and manufacturing processes.• Ensure successful transition of R&D projects into production, collaborating closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.• Drive cost optimization, yield improvement, and quality enhancements through continuous R&D initiatives.3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement• Act as the primary point of contact with Japan HQ R&D division and global research teams.• Partner with customers to understand technical requirements, provide solutions, and support New Product Introductions (NPI).• Build strong relationships with universities, research institutes, and industry partners to enhance innovation capability.4. Project Management & Compliance• Plan and manage R&D budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver projects on schedule and within cost targets.• Establish and maintain technical documentation, intellectual property (IP) protection, and knowledge management systems.• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements in all R&D activities.

- Lead and manage NPI projects from concept through production readiness.- Work with design, quality, production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability and seamless product launch.- Interpret and review technical drawings, BOMs and customer specifications.- Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and provide feedback to design teams for sheet metal components and assemblies.- Develop and maintain project timelines, track deliverables, and report status to stakeholders.- Coordinate prototyping, testing, and validation of new products.- Define and document work instructions, routing sheets, and process flow for new products.- Support the transition from prototype to production, including tooling, fixtures, and machine setup.- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the NPI process.- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.- Maintain close communication with customers and internal teams to manage change requests and feedback.- Support cost estimation and quoting activities for new projects.
